Project Overview
The project involves the delivery of the Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport Metro Line (SSTOM Package), a major Public‑Private Partnership (PPP) that will provide a new 23‑kilometre metro alignment between St Marys and the Western Sydney Aerotropolis.
The package includes six new metro stations, a train maintenance depot at Orchard Hills, a fleet of driverless trains, and the full suite of signalling, communications and electrical systems required to operate a modern, high‑frequency metro service. The new line will transform travel across Western Sydney, supporting regional growth and creating thousands of jobs throughout construction.
This project strengthens Western Sydney’s connectivity, supports the development of the new airport and surrounding precincts, and provides a critical foundation for future economic and population growth. Its scale, technical complexity and long‑term operational responsibilities underscore the importance of the SSTOM Package to the broader Sydney Metro program.
