Project Overview
Waterloo Metro Quarter: Revitalising Sydney’s Inner City
The Waterloo Metro Quarter is a transformative new precinct centred around the Sydney Metro integrated station development in Waterloo. This landmark $900 million project is a state-significant development that will breathe new life into the inner city, delivering vibrant community spaces and long-term social and economic benefits.
Designed as a catalyst for urban renewal, the precinct will feature a thoughtfully integrated mix of residential, commercial and community offerings — including social and affordable housing, student accommodation, retail, office space, and public amenities.
Spanning just under 70,000 sqm, the development comprises four buildings — two high-rise and two mid-rise — built above and alongside the station. Highlights include:
A minimum of 5% affordable housing and 70 dedicated social housing apartments
New community facilities and green spaces
Two public plazas on Cope Street and Raglan Street
An increase in tree canopy and sustainable design outcomes
The Waterloo Metro Quarter is set to enhance liveability, foster connection, and support sustainable job growth in one of Sydney’s most dynamic urban communities.
